Brief overview of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) research, data, and statistics, including those for Utah. The presenter shares her ACE score and the many behavioral, social, interpersonal, and physical ways her traumas manifested throughout her childhood, in educational and social environments, and into early adulthood. She addresses risks of non-trauma-informed environments, societal pressures that discourage disclosure, and re-victimization. The presentation addresses resources available to educators, counselors, and families for building resiliency, including prevention, validation for survivors, and hope for healing.
